Florida is certainly high on the list of great places to visit on the American east coast and for many parents it is regarded as a dream holiday destination. The reasons aren’t difficult to appreciate with so much excitement promised by the state’s leading attractions and so much amazing scenery to take in during your stay. From Mickey Mouse to manatees, and from superb golf courses to unbelievably extravagant hotels, Florida has it all and plenty more that holiday makers simply wont find anywhere else in the US or the world.

The most reliable and straightforward way to find good deals and cheap holidays to Florida these days is to go online and start your search for the right price. You might be surprised at just how much holiday you can get for your money and that trips to the US aren’t quite as expensive as you had imagined. So you can pick up package offers from fully reputable tour operators like Thomas Cook for under £500 per person for a week-long stay in some cases. That kind of price will only include your flights and your accommodation but it shows you don’t need to break the bank to land a holiday of a lifetime.

If you’re in a position to push the boat out a little further and stay in a five star resort you would need to spend closer to a thousand pounds per person for a week-long trip to a top Floridian resort. But holiday providers aim to keep their prices competitive and to make sure their package offers don’t price out too many of the families they know are keen to hop across the Atlantic and spend some time in the US. Booking at the last minute gives you perhaps the best chance of finding a truly remarkable deal and a great value bargain on a holiday in Florida.

Too much stress has been lurking around my system for the past weeks. Work, business, family – everything is jam packed into my little itsy bitsy body and somehow I still manage to survive all their demands. Though there are moments wherein I couldn’t allow myself to sleep just to cope up with their needs, but nevertheless, after everything, I’m pretty sure that all the hard work and sacrifices will totally be worth it. Personally, I know that it is not healthy anymore, and thanks to Richarge, a herbal energy drink that I’ve been drinking to keep myself “recharged” (I sell them as well by the way, so leave a comment if you want to purchase one ^_^) more or less, even though I lack the needed z’s, I am able to go on for the rest of the day.

I seriously am planning for a quick vacation to Zamboanga since my mom is going there this April 25, but it seems that my dad didn’t allow me to do so since he thinks that it would be wiser for me to buy the tickets once we’re about to permanently live there (which I’m not even sure when). All I wanted was to de-stress and visit our already built house since I want to see how it looks like… Though I’m pretty sure it looks fantastic (through pictures and hearsay), I still want to see the house for myself. It would sort of feel weird if the first time I see the house is also the same time I’d be moving in.

However, since my mom is currently experiencing rheumatism, I’m not sure if she would still be able to use the ticket, and if not, I’m contemplating if I should use it instead. I know Zamboanga also has some cottages in the lake district (that is if my poor memory serves me right) and if it did, it would be really nice to unwind and just bask in the heat of the sun plus have fun with my family. I miss them so much!

Sigh It’s been almost 5 months since my last sightseeing / travel happened. If you could recall, my last post that is related to my travels was when I went to Wawa Dam last October of 2011, and after a very unfortunate incident, I was not able to visit places that I always wanted to see anymore.

However, I’m making sure that I have more positive vibes than ever this year (2012)! So I made a vow to myself that I will have at least one travel escapade every year with my daughter, and I’ve already decided to go to Baguio this summer vacation. No, I will not finalize the date just yet since my friend and I haven’t had the conversation regarding when’s the big day(s) yet, but I’m pretty sure this will be fun, although I’ve been to Baguio before, some say that it had changed since I last visited. So I guess I just have to find out for myself!

Oh, and I might also visit Zamboanga as well… Let’s see… （＾ｖ＾）

It’s been quite some time since I last updated this travel blog because for one, I haven’t had much time to do my travels lately, plus I don’t really have anyone to do the travels I used to do with anymore. Though of course, it would also be nice to travel from one place to another with my family (a.k.a. daughter – yes I’m currently a “married by law, single by choice” mom), it would be a bit tedious to look after a running kid in a place I’ve never been to myself and honestly, I’m scared to travel by myself, let alone tagging a kid with me. Nevertheless, I’m conquering that fear now and have taken her to few places I know such as Luneta Park, and others.

Personally, it would really be nice to go out of the country and have an international tour with my daughter, but that would definitely be pushed off from the boundaries of my to-do list, since for one, it would be costly, and two, we don’t even have passports yet!

image from www.orlandoescape.com

But of course, being the curious cat that I am, I tried searching for places to go, and Orlando, Florida caught my attention. With the luxurious yet cozy Orlando Hotels, and the numerous fun-filled activities that can be done around the state, it would surely be great to take my daughter and get her “slimed” at the Nickelodeon’s Suites Orlando Resort, and have her meet some Nick characters!

Should you wish to know what other things you can do in Orlando, just visit their Facebook page!

One of the bloggers has a friend named Donna, who is suffering from cancer and despite that, Donna stays positive. However, because of the illness, she has to stay home and rest most of the time instead of having fun travelling and see the beauty of nature. Which is why this blogger is starting “A Thousand Postcards for Donna” wherein anyone can send Donna postcards of different places so that she would at least know how the outside world looks like even though she’s just laying in her bed.

If you are a post-crosser, or someone who wants to make Donna happy, then just email mommydharlz@darlingaguilar.com and ask for Donna’s address. It would be nice to send a smile to someone like Donna.

(Warning: Another picture heavy post coming up!)

Wawa Dam is located in Montalban, Rizal. Yes, apparently, most of my recent escapades have been around Rizal area (Daranak Falls, Mount Tagapo A.K.A. Susong Dalaga) because there are just a lot of eco sights in that province, which I can’t believe is “semi” near Manila. Being a nature lover, I’ve always been amazed of the fresh outdoors especially when it relaxes me of the tension brought in by the city (plus some other personal stuff).

How to get there:

Take LRT2 to Santolan station, then walk over to jeepney stations, you’re sure to see at least one with a “Montalban” sign on them. Montalban is roughly a 2 hour-ish drive (of course depending on the traffic) from Santolan, and after getting to Montalban, you have to ride another jeep that carries a “Wawa Dam” sign for roughly 5 to 10 minutes.

Once you get there…

Feast your eyes with the mountainous range of Sierra Madre… Here are some pictures I took using my camera phone:

While we were walking towards the dam, we saw these beautiful white boulders…

Other greenery shots from my trusty cellphone camera (I should really get a digicam!!!)

I believe these 2 pictures shows an entrance to a cave (not sure though coz I was not able to get near to them) but I seriously wanted to explore that, however time was not on our side. I really want to go back and do some more activities in this place, including swimming!

Few more minutes of walking and you’d see the dam…

With that, we kind of just checked on the view and tried to walk a little bit further and saw some huts. I wanted to rent one or at least rest in one of the available huts but again, time constriction. Seriously, if you want to go to this place, you have to free up the day because as far as my researches were concerned, you can actually do quite a lot of activities here in Wawa Dam – swimming, rock climbing, exploring caves, mountain biking, and boating (more on river rafting). Well at least I got to see the place and played with these ducks (LOL!):

Yes, it was my first time to see ducks in water (yeah loser right?)…

Anyways, I’m sharing this post for:
